When you’re trawling the globe for quality vintage ship lights, you find your eyes alighting on similar gorgeous objects. Vintage ships’ bells, for instance.
This is a large, highly polished ship bell inscribed with the vessel’s name: Glory Star and the date 1986.
A little internet research returns detailed information and an image of the imposing Glory Star – renamed Ocean Whisper by the time it was decommissioned in Pakistan in 2016.
We can see that this bulk carrier was named Sanko Star when built in 1986, at shipyards in Nagasaki, Japan. It was renamed Glory Star in the same year – and this is the bell that would have commemorated that.
The clapper is fully working and the ring is so captivating that we’ve created a video so you can hear it. (You can tell from the video how heavy this bell is!)
Dimensions: 35 cm high, 36 cm diameter.
